Affogato al Caffè! This Italian coffee-based dessert is perfect for any festive event. It takes about 5-7 minutes to make, and best of all you’ll be serving your guest’s coffee and dessert at the same time.
The Italian word “Affogato” means “drowned” and refers to the gelato, growing in a shot of espresso. This dessert will add a touch of the Florences elegance, and the rich tastes of Italy to your dinner party!
What you’ll need:
Fresh high-quality espresso coffee
Vanilla gelato curricular scoops (ice cream)
Several hours in advance lay ice cream on a freezer-proof tray and put the tray back in the freezer.
To serve, put balls of ice cream into 6 small glasses or bowls, and pour a shot of hot espresso coffee over each. Serve straight away, stirring the vanilla ice cream into the hot coffee so that it melts a little.
